I’m the man behind Mostly Wright.
This started with wanting a fantasy story about feeling lost and finding your way. Somewhere along the way, that became a story about rent, work, shared meals, and the life you build while you’re still deciding where to go.
The Town I Meant to Leave follows Robin, who arrives in a river town intending to stay a few weeks. Then there’s a job, a room above a bakery, someone worth spending evenings with—and winter firewood to buy.
It’s a warm, bittersweet literary fantasy novella about a temporary stay that starts to feel like a life. The illustrated edition includes the complete story and six illustrations in a gallery at the end.
I’d like to hear what stayed with you, what confused you, or whether Robin reminded you of someone. There’s a human here reading the comments.
Buying the book or leaving a tip helps fund this experiment. Reading it and telling me what you thought is welcome too.
